Youth Wrestling
The goal of Tribe Wrestling's youth program is to teach the fundamentals of wrestling in a safe, fun, and professional environment.
One of the great things about wrestling is that everyone will get a chance to wrestle. Kids are matched against other wrestlers of their same size and experience level.
Youth wrestling begins mid-Feb - April annually.

If your child is about to become a wrestler and this is your first real experience with this sport, you will want to know what is happening as you watch from the bleachers, what to expect as the match progresses, and how to react when your child comes off the mat. Check out the "Youth Wrestling Guide" below for a useful guide on what to expect in the world of wrestling.
For practices: Drop off and pick up will be at Armuchee Elementary School gym. We do not want any wrestlers roaming the halls or outside for safety reasons. It's important to start on time and that you are on time to pick them up.
To help with the health, safety, and eliminate distractions, parents are asked not to stay and watch practices. We understand that as a parent there may be concerns for the child, but rest assured they are in the best hands. There will be one evening that parents will be invited to watch their child as a spectator. This will give you an idea of what happens at practices and learn a little more about the sport yourself.
In order to keep the mats clean and prevent unnecessary mat wear, we ask that all wrestlers bring two pairs of shoes to practice - one pair to wear into the facility and a second pair (wrestling shoes or clean tennis shoes) to wear on the wrestling mat.
Wrestlers will need (more information and links to some of the items can be found on the NEW TO WRESTLING? page)

Most weekend there are AAU and/or USA youth wrestling tournaments in and around the Northwest Georgia area. We will select a few featured tournaments that we hope many of our wrestlers will attend. We will also have multiple coaches to help everyone, especially to assist the newer wrestlers/parents. Information on upcoming tournaments will be available as they approach. The wrestlers usually enjoy going to tournaments with as many of their friends as possible to help support each other. Keep in mind these are always optional and not something to force your child to do. The main goal is for your child to feel comfortable and enjoy the sport.
UNIFORMS
Wrestling uniforms are designed to allow athletes to move freely, compete safely, and meet competition requirements. A proper wrestling uniform fits snugly, has no loose fabric, and helps referees clearly see scoring positions during matches.
For Armuchee AAU Youth Wrestling, we proudly represent our school colors: blue, white, and black. We ask families to stick to these colors when selecting a uniform.
Proper fit is important. If you have questions about what size is best for your child, please consult with Coach Foshee, who is happy to help guide you.
Singlet vs. 2-Piece Uniform: What’s the Difference?
Singlet - A singlet is the traditional one-piece wrestling uniform. It is tight-fitting, lightweight, and stays securely in place throughout a match. Singlets are widely used at all levels of wrestling and are required at many competitions as athletes progress.
2-Piece Uniform - A 2-piece wrestling uniform includes a compression top (tight-fitting, sleeveless or short sleeve) and wrestling shorts with NO pockets.
Some youth wrestlers feel more comfortable starting in a 2-piece, especially if they are new to the sport or a little larger. This option still meets competition standards for AAU youth wrestling and allows kids to focus on learning and having fun.
Both options serve the same purpose - mobility, safety, and fairness during competition. So, choosing between them often comes down to comfort and confidence.
Looking Ahead: USA Youth Wrestling
If your wrestler plans to continue into USA Youth Wrestling after AAU, you may want to consider a reversible singlet. At USA matches, one wrestler is assigned red and the other blue, and athletes must wear the assigned color. A reversible singlet (red on one side, blue on the other) makes this much easier and avoids last-minute uniform issues.
Price Ranges
Singlets: Typically range from $35–$80, depending on brand and style
2-Piece Uniforms: Typically range from $30–$60
Prices can vary based on brand, materials, and design.
There are also websites where you can custom design a singlet in Armuchee colors, logos, and the wrestlers name for around $25–$50. Please note that custom singlets may take a few weeks to arrive, so plan accordingly. Different Armuchee Logos can be found in our Photo Gallery.
The goal is comfort, confidence, and readiness to compete!
