ADD SCHEDULE TO YOUR CALENDAR!
Welcome to the Tribe!
We’re thrilled to have your family join Armuchee Wrestling — where we all bleed blue. You’ll quickly learn that wrestling is more than a sport; it’s a family. We cheer for each other’s kids, celebrate every win, and support one another through every tough match. You won’t find a stronger, more loyal support system anywhere. Welcome home.
First practices: October 19 (Monday, at the conclusion of regular school hours).
Middle School wrestlers (grades 6–8): Take the athletic bus from the High School to the Middle School. Someone will assist with this on the first day and the bus number that the students will ride will be provided prior. We recommend each wrestler finds a “buddy” to help stay accountable for catching the bus. Please note: the bus will not wait on any student. Please advise your Middle Schooler to proceed immediately to the bus after released from their last class.
High School wrestlers (grades 9-12): Will meet at the fieldhouse next to the football field immediately after school for practice.
Wrestling is an intense sport that requires good hygiene. Please make sure your wrestler showers after every practice to avoid skin infections. Regular soap and water work fine — consistency is what matters.
Make sure you’re receiving ParentSquare notifications from your child’s coach:
Middle School (GRADES 6-8): Coach Foshee (chadfoshee@floydboe.net)
High School (GRADES 9-12): Coach Boaz (davidboaz@floydboe.net)
Youth (GRADES 3-8): Coach Foshee (chadfoshee@floydboe.net)

We have amazing Team Moms for both the Middle School and High School programs. They’re your go-to for questions, guidance, or moral support. No question is a stupid question — if you’re wondering, someone else probably is too! They will be available to you at the end of practices. If you don't see them, find another mom — they may know the answer or find someone who does.
Our Booster Meetings are held the second Monday of every month. Please attend when you can — you’ll learn so much, meet great people, and be part of important decisions that make our program thrive.
Each family is expected to work one shift in concessions during a home meet. To sign up, email armucheewrestlingboosters@gmail.com.
Every AMS/AHS wrestler is expected to sell:
20 raffle tickets ($20 each) by November 30 — drawings begin in December.
Sell an extra 10 tickets or secure a $250 sponsorship = free team gear (compression shirt, shorts, singlet).
Team dues: $200 per wrestler
or A $500 sponsorship covers both team dues and team gear.
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram — most last-minute updates, event photos, and reminders post there first (especially Facebook).
You can also upload your photos throughout the season using the link on this site (under the Photos section). Please upload pictures, not videos — candid moments are the best! These images help create our year-end slideshow at the banquet.
Wrestling Traditional Tournaments (Individual) and Duals (Team Tournaments) can make for long days — sometimes early mornings and late nights. Bring snacks, water, portable phone charger, and a folding chair/stadium cushion. Most importantly, connect with other parents! It’s far more enjoyable when you’re cheering together, learning other wrestlers’ names, and becoming part of the Tribe family.
Label your wrestler’s gear (shoes, headgear, and water bottles look alike!).
Keep an extra pair of socks, athletic tape, wipes, and snacks in the bag.
Encourage your wrestler to respect coaches, teammates, and officials — they represent the Tribe at all times.
Celebrate effort as much as victories. Every match teaches something valuable.
Wrestling builds more than just strength — it builds character, resilience, and grit. Every practice and match teaches accountability, discipline, emotional control, and perseverance. You’ll watch your child develop confidence, mental toughness, and self-respect in ways few other sports can offer.
Because wrestling is so physically and emotionally intense, your child may experience a surge of adrenaline during and after a match. It’s normal for emotions to run high — even for the toughest 18-year-old Varsity Seniors. Sometimes they’ll walk off the mat angry, upset, or overwhelmed. The best thing you can do is give them space. Let the coaches help them decompress, process the match, and turn it into a learning opportunity. Wait 10–20 minutes before approaching or let your wrestler come to you first. These emotional moments are a big part of their growth and development.
If your wrestler gets hurt during a match, please do not run onto the mat. There are trained medical professionals and coaches who will take immediate care of them. We promise — they’ll be okay. Wrestling parents learn to trust the process and the people who are trained to handle those moments.
Finally, remember that respect is part of the Tribe code — for everyone. Parents, please show the same respect to coaches and referees that we expect from our wrestlers. Our athletes learn from the examples we set.
Together, we build champions not only on the mat, but in life.
The more you show up, the more rewarding the season becomes — for both you and your wrestler. Whether you’re mat-side cheering, helping in concessions, or joining a Booster meeting, you’re part of the heartbeat that keeps Tribe Wrestling strong.
Welcome to the Tribe. Once you’re in, you’re family!

UNIFORMS
Wrestling uniforms are issued to our Middle School and High School athletes prior to each match/tournament days. They are expected to return them after each match/tournament. This is to ensure that the team match, items are not lost, and recieve the same cleaning care.
Each singlet is designed to allow athletes to move freely, compete safely, and meet competition requirements. A proper wrestling uniform fits snugly, has no loose fabric, and helps referees clearly see scoring positions during matches.
WRESTLING SHOES
Wrestling shoes are designed specifically for the sport and play an important role in your child’s safety and performance. They provide grip on the mat to help prevent slipping, support the ankle during quick movements, and are lightweight so wrestlers can move freely and stay balanced. Unlike regular athletic shoes, wrestling shoes are made to protect both the wrestler and their opponent by being flexible, snug, and non-marking.
For youth wrestlers, a basic wrestling shoe is all that is needed. There is no requirement to purchase high-end or elite models. Entry-level shoes offer the same essential grip, support, and comfort for young athletes who are learning the sport.
Price Range:
Most 'youth' wrestling shoes typically range from $30–$70. Prices may vary depending on the brand, style, and materials, but spending more does not necessarily mean better for beginners.
The most important thing is finding a shoe that fits well, feels comfortable, and allows your wrestler to move confidently on the mat. No need to spend a fortune! Simple and well-fitting is perfect for youth wrestling.
HEADGEAR
Wrestling headgear is worn to protect a wrestler’s ears and head during practice and competition. Its primary purpose is to prevent injuries such as cauliflower ear, which can occur from repeated friction and impact. Headgear is lightweight, adjustable, and designed to stay secure while allowing wrestlers to hear coaches and referees.
Price Range:
Most youth wrestling headgear typically ranges from $20–$50. Prices can vary depending on the brand, design, and materials, but higher cost does not mean better protection for youth athletes.
The key is a proper fit! Headgear should be snug, comfortable, and stay in place during movement. Keep it simple and functional with a chin strap.
KNEE SLEEVE or KNEE PAD (Optional But Recommended)
Knee sleeves or knee pads are valuable pieces of gear in wrestling because they help protect one of the most heavily used joints on the body. They provide cushioning during shots, sprawls, and mat contact, reducing the risk of bruises, mat burns, and minor injuries. Knee sleeves also offer light compression and support, which can improve stability and help wrestlers feel more confident in their movement. By adding protection and comfort, they allow athletes to focus on performance without worrying as much about wear and tear on their knees. s.
Price Range:
Basic sleeves and entry-level knee pads typically range from about $15–$20, while mid-range options with better padding and durability fall in the $20–$30 range, and premium or brand-name options can go up to around $30–$40 depending on features and materials.
The goal of using knee sleeves or knee pads in wrestling is to protect the knees while maintaining mobility and performance.
